Protect

1. Orzly Glass Screen Protector for Switch 2 (4-pack)

by Orzly

Who it’s for: Every Switch 2 owner. A glass protector is the cheapest insurance for the screen, especially if the console goes in a bag or gets passed to kids.

Verdict: The no-brainer first purchase: four tempered-glass protectors, so you have spares if one goes on badly.

What we like

  • Four protectors in the pack, so a fitting mistake isn’t the end of the world
  • Listing says it’s only 0.24mm thick and won’t interfere with docking
  • Rounded edges and cut-outs for the sensors (per the listing)
  • 2-year limited manufacturer warranty (per the listing)

Worth knowing

  • No alignment frame in the box – see the JSAUX pack (#3) if you’re nervous about fitting
  • ‘9H’ hardness is a seller rating, not something we’ve measured

What we like

  • Hard EVA shell with a padded screen flap (per the listing)
  • Dedicated game pockets plus space for cables or a power bank
  • Reinforced handle and wipe-clean finish
  • One-year replacement warranty (per the listing)

Worth knowing

  • Sold in several sizes for different Switch models – make sure you pick the Switch 2 (7.9-inch) version

Protect

3. JSAUX 3-Pack Screen Protector with Guide Frame

by JSAUX

Verdict: Pay a little for the alignment frame and you’re far less likely to end up with a wonky protector.

What we like

  • Included guide frame for lining up the glass
  • Oleophobic coating to resist fingerprints (per the listing)
  • Three protectors in the pack
  • Seller says it replaces protectors damaged during installation

Worth knowing

  • One fewer protector than the Orzly pack
  • The frame needs to sit firmly before you apply – the listing specifically warns about this

What we like

  • Three pairs in different designs

Buying guide

What’s actually worth it?

If you’re on a tight budget, here’s the order we’d buy in:

  1. Screen protector (#1 or #3) – cheapest protection for the most expensive part.
  2. A case – a travel case (#2 or #4) if you carry it about, or a dockable case (#5) if it mostly stays at home.
  3. Comfort upgrades – thumb grips (#7) or a charging grip (#6) if you play long sessions in TV mode.
  4. Storage (#8) only if you buy physical games.

Screen protectors: glass and a guide frame

Pick tempered glass with cut-outs designed for the Switch 2. Apply it over Nintendo’s factory film (don’t remove the film). If you’ve struggled with fitting before, a pack with a guide frame (#3) is worth it. Dust is the enemy – fit it in a steamy bathroom or a clean room and use the wipes in the box.

Cases: travel vs dockable

  • Travel cases (hard shell, zip) give the best protection in a bag but must come off to dock.
  • Dockable cases stay on all the time and protect against bumps and scratches, but give less drop protection than a hard travel case.

Check the listing says Switch 2 – many cases are sold in several sizes for different Switch models.

Grips and charging

Third-party grips are a cheap way to make detached Joy-Con 2 controllers feel more like a gamepad. Nintendo also sells an official Joy-Con 2 charging grip if you’d rather stick with first-party kit.

Check compatibility (Joy-Con 2 vs original Joy-Con)

Joy-Con 2 accessories (straps, grips, thumb caps) generally won’t fit original Switch Joy-Con – and vice versa. Every product here is listed as Switch 2 / Joy-Con 2 compatible.

Prices change all the time. We don’t show prices on What2Buy – use the “Check price on Amazon” buttons for the current price.

FAQ

Do I need a screen protector for the Switch 2?

It’s the most useful cheap accessory you can buy. The Switch 2 screen already has a film layer that Nintendo says is there to stop fragments scattering if the screen breaks, and Nintendo tells owners not to peel it off. A tempered-glass protector goes on top of that film to guard against scratches.

Do original Switch cases fit the Switch 2?

Generally no – the Switch 2 is bigger (7.9-inch screen). Many case brands sell separate versions for each model, so check you’ve selected the Switch 2 size before you buy.

Can I dock the Switch 2 with a case on?

Only with a case designed to be dockable, like the JETech case (#5). Travel cases such as the Orzly or CoBak need to come off before you dock.

Do Switch 1 game card cases work with Switch 2 games?

Yes – Switch 2 game cards use the same physical card size as original Switch cards, so a card case like the Mcbazel (#8) holds both.

Are these prices guaranteed to be under £20?

No. Everything here was under £20 on Amazon UK at its regular price when we checked on 6 October 2026, but Amazon prices change constantly (and deals come and go). Always check the current price on Amazon before you buy – that’s why we don’t print prices on the page.
